That’s what stirred my thoughts tonight. Two subjects for the group to work on in our meeting today.

A lot of gratitude was expressed today by those of us, who had been freed from the bondage of alcohol. I certainly had a lot to be thankful for. Like a lot of those, who spoke today about what it meant to be powerless over alcohol, how helpless we all were, and what it did to us, until we reached this program. The result was that through the 12 Steps we were freed from the bondage of alcohol.

And tonight, as I thought about this, I was once again brought back to the Second Step, the restoration to sanity, and the Ninth Step, where that restoration took place. The spiritual awakening, where sanity came to me. Sanity over the insanity of alcohol for this alcoholic. I should say all of us.

And to think that this was all due to learning some form of discipline in practicing this program on a daily basis. Not just the Steps. Learning to go to meetings and being faithful to that practice. Learning to listen. Learning to follow directions.

Anyway it brought to mind what I need to do today. To pray and meditate and be prepared to help another alcoholic. To do my Higher Power’s will for me. To keep our primary purpose up front in my mind. And then to practice these principles in all of my affairs.

I think that’s where we all were today.
