Silent, in hopes of being in a moment of being focused on why I am here. I never ever want to forget that my primary purpose is to stay sober a day at a time. I’ve seen what has happened to those, who forgot over a period of time and went back out and drank again.

Today I had to go into a chiropractor to work on my arthritis. They put me on a table and attached my painful spine and hips to an electronic device and heat for at least fifteen minutes. And that opened the door to being willing to be totally quiet within. Open to my Higher Power, and doing what I did on that last day of my drinking alcohol, when I turned my drinking alcohol over, and became willing to go to any lengths to be of service to him. It was if I later discovered to be in a total surrender. And I was at last freed of my drinking alcohol. That was what opened me to being silent.

Each day I hopefully begin by praying and letting go. To begin my day being dedicated to staying sober. Hopefully to join in with my fellow alcoholics at a meeting, where I am once again reminded of what it was like, when I came into this program, where everyone was focused on staying sober. The beginning of change.

When the time was up, I was freed of the heat and vibration, and left. But my thoughts were not on that at the moment. I still was aware of why I am here, since the day I surrendered to being freed of alcohol. A moment of peace and quiet within. Once again I felt encouraged to live my life as a sober human being. I’m still not a saint, but have been reminded over and over by my Higher Power and a lot of friends in here, what it is I need to do. And that’s what I am doing. Makes me grateful.

Everyday I have to back off and stay quiet for a while.
