Great

Tonight we discussed the 9th Tradition. For me, it tied together the organization/disorganization of the program. But one thing that it brought to mind was the importance of spiritual principles.

It pointed out the importance of all of the members of this program adhering to unity. Being one in our drive to stay sober. Without that, not only will the individual put himself in danger of drinking again, but also the group.

Once again, it brought the point home that we are not in charge. None of us. Like, Sandy B. once said, the highest position we can ever seek in this program is that of servant. We are all here to be of service to one another and the group. A reminder of the 1st and 2nd Traditions.

More importantly it tells us what it is that keeps us together. Discipline. And it says, our disciplinarians are great love and great suffering. Amen to that. It’s funny isn’t it that an alcoholic like myself would agree with that. But it’s true. Has been in my experience. And, of all things, I am grateful for that. It’s been great, because I’m sober as a result and in spite of myself.
