Following directions

Talk about a wake up call today, the meeting gave us just that. We were asked to talk about Step One and Step Eleven. Getting sober and then getting the guidance to do that a day at a time.

It was great to hear some of those, who began with their being able to stop drinking a day at a time. And then to reach a point, where they could begin living a spiritual life and depending on our Higher Power to help us and guide us through this way of life. And all that is dependent on our being able to do what is asked of us. To stay sober a day at a time and to begin to live a spiritual life dependent on the God of our understanding.

Of course I learned in here what I needed to know. And that was how to follow the Steps and a spiritual way of life. And part of this was to carry the message, which was given to me. I was to freely give to new people, what was freely given to me. Not attention on who I am, but simply what I hope to be doing. I often go back to the summation of the Twelfth Tradition on the last page of the Twelve and Twelve. It talks about people like us, stepping back, away from attention, and practicing the humility we all need. We are not in charge. We are simply supposed to be following the directions we have been given and doing this for our Higher Power.

Anyway, this made me grateful and willing to give thanks to the God of my understanding, this program, and all those in here, who have helped me.
