Along the way

Today I was reminded of a number of things, which not only helped me to get sober, but which have given me a way of life I never had before. A good way of life, which I owe to my Higher Power, this program, and all the people in it, who have helped me to stay sober.

I need to look back at my old sponsor, Tom L., who opened up my mind and helped me to work this program into my life. And I need to also thank his widow Fern, who also passed away not long ago. They really helped me to do the changes I needed in here.

I had to turn my will and my life over to the God of my understanding…once again. Something I have slowly learned in here. Tom and Fern, right up to the ends of their lives, kept me going. They also revealed to me the life I was going to continue to live was not that of a saint, as the BB and the program pointed out to me. Just a human alcoholic.

That definitely meant that I would probably find myself stumbling from time to time, and needed to learn to pick myself up and continue to practice this program and seek the help I needed. The help we all need, right up to the ends of our lives.

Anyway I had to stop and remind myself of who and what I am. Hopefully still staying sober a day at a time, and to do what I needed, to pray, ask for help, give help to others like myself, and to thank my Higher Power, and all those who have reached out and helped me along the way.
