What this program is about was talked about today. And, of course, it lead us all to the reason for the Traditions in here. How it was very necessary to unify the alcoholics in here and to make sure that everyone knew what this program was about and why we need to be very strong in holding this program to what it is all about.
Bill Wilson and others were very aware of what happened to the original program back before the Civil War. It got so involved with all that was going around that the program fell apart. So everyone in the program needed to be unified and centered on alcoholism and nothing else. In fact we have seen other groups fall apart because they got involved in other things. Lots of people got drunk again and seriously injured. And death was one of them.
Before we started the meeting, another topic was also introduced. And that was the Second Step. Not many mentioned that today, but I and a couple had to also go there. And that was because of the spiritual part of this program, which helps us all to become on the same way to stay together and help ourselves and others to remain sober. Made me grateful.
