Positive day

This was one of those positive days for me. Went to a small group today for a meeting. Had about five of us, who were long term sober people, and six who were extremely new. Two were just one day. But the talk of the five was very helpful to say the least. Very good.

And then, after the meeting, two of us talked about the program and being positive. In fact, later on an old friend from out of town made a call, and we went into a lot of positive and deep thoughts about our being able to stay sober a day at a time.

Even had a deep conversation before the meeting, as we drove over to it. About things which were very effective in life, and how we needed to change and deal with things. Part of that was what was going on in the later phone call. And that was the Serenity Prayer. Not being able to change others, but only ourselves, with the help of our Higher Power. And both of those calls were about being positive rather than negative.

And, of course, we all talked about being human and not saints. How we could begin our day in a spiritual way and then find all of us stumbling, and tumbling, and bumbling in life. Having to pick ourselves up and go back to our Higher Power for help, as well as a sponsor, or close relations in the program.

Anyway, it made me grateful to talk and listen to others like myself. Of course remembering that we are here to stay sober a day at a time. And to do whatever we can to be compassionate and help others like ourselves. So, I have to say “Thanks” for all the good things I have received and been able to pass on to others in here.
