I found that I had to laugh today, because I made a big mistake. We were having a meeting where we read the 12&12 and then talked about the chapter and how it influenced us. The problem was that no one remembered what it was that we read at the last meeting, where we read the 12&12.
For some reason I thought we were going to the Seventh Step, so I made that announcement, and we began to read aloud, one person at a time. I think we were into the second paragraph, when it hit me, this is what we read and studied last Monday. And finally, after we had gone deeply into this chapter, we began to wake up to the fact that this was true. Made me laugh out loud, as it did a number of individuals.
What this did for us, we found out, it had made us more conscious of what we had read and how that affected our thoughts and our lives. Amazing, because once again we were more deeply and more conscious of the subject of humility and how it is affecting our lives.
It also made me very conscious of how this second reading was more effective for us individually, and generally as a group, when we listened to our input after the reading this time. For one thing I know, it was a wake up call on the subject of humility for us all. That was very clear.
Anyway, I think it made most of us more aware of the spiritual nature of humility and our Higher Power, whom we felt had opened the door within us and made us more conscious of it. I know that it seemed to have brought about a deeper focus for most of us. Another awakening for our staying sober one day at a time. Made all of us grateful. I know I have to express this to my Higher Power, and all those, who have helped me to grow in this program, and stay sober.
