It’s funny. Today’s my AA birthday and I missed the meeting today. Probably a good thing, because I might have gotten attention and I could do without it. People did call me and wished me nice things, but it kind of choked me up in ways. That’s why I’m glad I missed the meeting. I’ll go tomorrow.
I did however stop and think about that first day. The first meeting. And I think I have told this a lot, but I often think about that first meeting. That’s when and where that old timer stopped and read the Jan. 6 page of the 24 Hour a Day book. The first paragraph. It really touched me and I have continued to read it over and over and think about it. Worth a read for all of us.
Anyway I was thinking back over my time in here. It’s been a long time, by the grace of my Higher Power, and the help of so many old timers, my old sponsor, and a whole lot of people I have grown to love and care for. I was thinking about those early days and all that I have gone through since. At times it was rough and tough. But also a lot of blessings, joy, and happiness. Gifts given to me, like the restoration to sanity and the spiritual awakening. All the promises and then some. Peace, and often serenity, and a new happiness.
So I thought I would just stop and think about all of this. What a miracle! I am grateful and need to give thanks.
