Today, whether it was the subject or not, someone in the group did something I and a number of people did not think was right. They chose to describe their concept of a God. And a few decided they had no ideas of a God.
My old sponsor and a lot of those old timers back then, thought that whatever our concept of God was it was not to be given to others. It was not up to anyone to try to teach someone else what that was, unless they asked us individually how to arrive at a conclusion how we believe and what we believe. Still teaching others was a negative thought.
What is important is our growing along spiritual lines. The only names of a God we need to give is a Higher Power, or the God of our understanding. If we don’t believe in a God, then it’s enough to just say something like, we need to pray and leave it alone. We’re not here to convert anyone one way or another. Nor, like I said, we don’t need to teach.
Anyway, I think most of us reached a point where we were being general in our speaking. We were, I think, interested in stressing what it is that we need to do, and that’s to try to live a spiritual life.
And stressed how important that is to our staying sober a day at a time in here. I know that made me grateful to listen and to desire to do just that.
