Once again I was thinking about problems. I’ve been having a number of them lately. And, of course, as I always believe, the solution to our problems is spiritual. Over time in this program that has been my experience.
The thought that there is a spiritual solution does not mean that my problems have been solved overnight. Often they took time. But because of this program these problems were reduced in size by sharing them with others. Sober alcoholics like myself.
A problem shared is a problem cut in half, as my old sponsor Tom would always tell me. By sharing, my problems would be put back in perspective. Fear, anxiety, worry, tensions would magnify them and exaggerate their size, so they would fill my head and insides.
But the sharing would reduce and minimize and get them right sized.
Like I said, the solution to all of these is spiritual. My higher power has the solution, if I will but put them in his hands. However, as I’ve often been told, this is an action program. Whatever I’m facing, I have to do the necessary foot work. All I need, with the help of others is to have the wisdom to know the difference, as the Serenity Prayer tells me. I get that from the directions and suggestions of others. My higher power talking through my companions in this program.
Anyway, I had to step back and take the time to think about all of this. It’s part of my staying sober a day at a time.
